POETRY U3A.

We meet on alternate Friday afternoons, 12.30-2.30.

We meet in The Mount Pleasant Pub on Roe Lane or via Zoom.

We have a closed Facebook page and members are expected to post at least one poem per fortnight.

We are here to support each other and enjoy ourselves so-

• The meetings are chaired.
• The group is for both experienced and relatively new poets, who are committed to their hobby. Members are expected to share ongoing work at each meeting. You cannot read other poets work or merely listen to others read.
• Writing themes are available across the year. We discuss a published poem, undertake a writing exercise and comment on each others' work in each session.
• There is no priority in reading. We read ‘round the room’.
• Readings (including preamble) are a maximum of 1 side A4.
• We are not a ‘workshop’. Material may be read on only one occasion.
• There will be the opportunity to visit other poetry groups, engage in competitions, perform and submit work for publication.
• Any comments are courteous and constructive. Poets do not have to ‘defend’ their work or apologise in any way for writing the piece they want to write. If you do not like what you hear-please say nothing.
• Work is shared via our closed Facebook page. This does not count as 'publication'.
