Pickleball is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. It is played indoors on a badminton-sized court with a lowered net, Pickleball is played with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes.

We have spare paddles (bats) for those wishing to try their hand before committing to buying their own equipment. You should wear non marking shoes to avoid damaging the courts.

We usually play doubles and use a "peg" system to schedule games. Participants can expect to be on court for between 70 and 90 minutes of a two hour session.

While Pickleball is less strenuous than squash or badminton a reasonable level of fitness and mobility is required. Please note that U3A insurance does not cover you for injury.

Parking

There is ample car parking (your payment is refundable from Dunes Reception if you advise them that you are playing Pickleball).  Do not however forget to display your ticket as the car park is patrolled. If the main car park is full there is additional parking behind the building. As you pass Morrisons and Dunes on your right from Duke St take the last exit at the roundabout and the entrance to the car park is on your right. Your passes are valid on that car park. Do not park in the staff section, through the gate on the left as you enter the car park.

Do not park in Morrisons as there is now a two hour limit there.

Public Transport

The venue is well served by the following buses: 2, 2X, 15, 15A, 40, 47, 49, 375 and 385 all stopping close to Morrisons Supermarket.  Dunes Leisure Centre, is located just behind Morrisons Supermarket car park.
