Hi, this is a very friendly RED WINE only Appreciation Group. As it says, we only appreciate RED WINE! 6 every month - different countries, vintages, grapes. There are other Wine Groups within the Southport U3A that do a mix of whites, rose & red. We currently meet once a month usually the second or third Wednesday of the month at the Cafe Bar called Season Southport at 14-16 King Street Southport opposite the Market Hall in the Town Centre, it is close to the railway station and bus routes so really easy to get there. We finish by 10pm so still time to get the bus / train home. And also a short walk from the LORD ST Taxi Rank. As you'd imagine, it's not a good idea to drive to our events!! As you will see from the pictures we sometimes have a theme - these were for our French wine evening - we have a holiday home in the Languedoc wine region of France and brought the wine back with us for that one!!

The cost - payable either by Card or Cash direct to the venue - is only £28 and for that you get to drink (not piddly drops - decent glasses of) six decent red wines and during the warmer months (May - September) a great board of Cheeses, Charcuterie etc etc. In the cooler months, a plate of hot food (usually a meat type casserole etc - N.B. Michelle can do a veggie alternative if notified in advance) prepared freshly by our host. The venue is cosy, very clean and friendly. I also produce a set of tasting notes for you to take away too.

So, if you would like to join, you can do so on the website or you can email me at: gcjlatham@hotmail.com. Once you sign up I will email you every month with the date. We do NOT operate a waiting list. Once you have joined the group you will get the email with the date etc. You simply reply to the email and I put you on the list and fire back an email to confirm I have received your email with a "Yer In" email! It is First Come First Served, the venue has a comfortable maximum of 30 people and once those places are booked I will put you on the "Reserve Bench" - if someone has to drop out then you may get the call - sometimes at short notice!

Finally, if you are a member, remember, please do not turn up if you have not booked by emailing me with your name and U3A membership number. Thank you. We can only accommodate 30 people comfortably at the venue. Please bear in mind if you book and then just DON'T TURN UP, WE WILL EXPECT YOU TO PAY!! (the venue) That's not unfair is it??
