Being able to read is essential to the development and the future of Young Primary Pupils.

For the many children in Southport English is not their main language nor is it spoken at home, so reading help is critical. For those where English is the language at home parents do not have the time to sit quietly and hear their children read - as I am sure they would love to do. Reading is an absolutely essential key to a child's future education and path for life. Without these skill they are left behind.

Southport Schools have asked for our help

Southport u3a currently have our Reading Angel Members in Linaker Street Primary School and St Johns in Crossens

There will be training at the school in how they wish you to teach their particular reading techniques and free DBS checks arranged.

If you have a few hours to spare each week, or once a month, please join this group and get in touch

Thank you
