Welcome to the Gardening Group. We are a friendly bunch of keen gardeners, We meet on the second Wednesday of the month at Liverpool Road Methodist Church in Birkdale, PR8 4PD. Doors open at 10am with refreshments which are included in the admission fee of £3. We start promptly at 10.30am with notices and welcome our guest speaker. We have a different speaker every month on a wide range of horticultural related topics. Some speakers bring plants for sale & we also have seed swaps, gardening magazine swaps, and occasionally have seedlings for sale for a nominal fee. We organise several trips throughout the year, to gardens of interest including stately homes and horticultural shows, plus occasional self-drive trips to local gardens open under the National Garden Scheme charity.  When you become a member you will be able to book for meetings, trips and social events through this page or your personal profile, but don't forget to login first. All meetings need to be booked prior to attendance.

Only Trips can be paid for online. Please pay your £3 attendance fee at the door, and we appreciate the correct amount.

We are a popular group and nearly always have a waiting list of folk who would like to join. Our membership is actively managed and so you won't wait too long to become a member. Members are required to attend a minimum of 3 meetings in a twelve month period, meaning that this is not a trips only group and trips are for the benefit of members who attend meetings.

We look forward to seeing.

Below is our award winning show garden entered in Southport Flower

Show garden in 2022.

The garden won a Large Gold Medal and The Brian Aughton Memorial Trophy for 'Best use of Plants in a Display.' Gardens have continued to be created at the Flower Show since the first garden in 2022 but this is now organised by Southport u3a rather than the Gardening Group, but there are many volunteers from our Group involved.
