Hesketh Park Queens Road Entrance u3a border. Every 2 weeks from Thursday 5th March at 1.30 pm

Beautiful Hesketh Park Needs our Help. Hesketh Park Heritage Group have asked Southport u3a for gardening help

When?

We will meet every fortnight on a Thursday afternoon at 1.30 for 2 hours --or as long as you wish to stay. - Every little helps! Bring a u3a friend.

Please arrive at the Queens Road Entrance - this is on the bottom right hand corner of the park opposite Morrisons and Hesketh Pharmacy. Parking is available on the roads round the park and several buses stop near by - X2, 2, 47, 44, 347.

What are we doing?

The u3a has been allocated a border by the entrance and have been transforming it since March 2025. It now looks amazing. We need to maintain this with regular weeding, hoeing and adding extra plants as needed. In the near future we will be taking on a large raised circle as a seasonal flower bed. .

What to bring?

Layers, coat, sturdy shoes and gloves. Hesketh Park has tools available, although you are welcome to bring your own, Facilities are quite basic with public toilets outside the park perimeter.

A flask/drink if you would like to stop for refreshment - cake is usually provided by one of us. There is a cafe in the park a short walk from our border.

Following a very generous bequest from the Marks family Hesketh Park is returning to its former glory.  There is a great deal of work to be done and volunteers are essential, and appreciated.
